1) Personal Background: Francesco Tonelli was born in the Marche region of Italy and was raised in Milan. When he was fourteen he was working in the kitchen with his brother who was a chef. Francesco Tonelli is very hands on in the composition of what he is photographing. His photography is based in the New York Metro Area. He makes, takes and edits all of his own food photographs.
2) Style: the visual characteristics that I saw in the artist's work was that all of the photos were lots of color and detail. All of his photos were about different foods. All the photos are still life's and they were great to look at. Most of his images makes you think differently about each food type. Over all each of his photos were unique different and appealing.
3) Philosophy: I think that the major ideas behind his work was that he wanted us to be informed about food and the important meaning behind food. The artist's photography were personal and social. I also think that his work shows that he loves food. He was trying to say that food is an important part of a persons life. Overall I understood what his message was behind his photography.
4) Influences: This photographer had little influence on me but when I was looking at his food photographs they were mind blowing. That was why I wanted to do my final report on Francisco Tonelli. He helped me understand that food is important and you should enjoy the beauty of food. I wish I started food photography sooner because I would have enjoyed it more than portrait photography/other photographs I did. Overall the photographer had no influence on my own photography.
6) Compare and Contrast: My first image looks like his because it is an image of a waffle and the only reason my photo looks different is because it is lighter than his. My second image of the salad leaf looks different because I used a different leaves and I lightened the photo more then his photo. My third Image of the grilled cheese sandwich looks different because I used different bread. My fourth image of the peanut butter sandwich, looks the same but I used different bread. My fifth photo of the chocolate ice cream looks the same as his but my image is darker.
7) Personal Artist Statment: All my images are photos of food. I like these photos because they turned out nicer then I thought. Also these photos represent my childhood. My favorite photo is of the waffle. I wish I started taking food photos earlier. Overall I did well on this final project.
